Fitness Goals
1. Keep up the exercise. Right now I try to run three times a week and doing yoga two or three times a week. I want to keep doing this.
2. Finish a 10K race. I am working on building up my run times, slowly but surely! I would like to run a 10K this year. I had so much fun running my 5K, and it was such a confidence builder to see that I could run in a big bunch of people without getting left behind, crying.
3. Relearn how to swim. Because my swimming is pathetic. Maybe this is a good summer goal.
Hobby Goals
4. Knit something cute. It doesn't have to be a baby sweater (which is a recycled goal from 2011). Just get back into the world of knitting!
5. Learn something about gardening. I've adopted the two little sidewalk plots in front of my building. Hopefully I will be a good mom to them. And if all goes well, I'd like to get a plot in the community garden at Riverbank State Park too.
6. Finish my young adult novel. That's right, I am writing a young adult novel. For fun. And it wouldn't be terrible if I could turn it into a fabulous series that made me a millionaire. I mean, c'mon. If Magic Treehouse lady can do it, why not me?
7. Keep trying new stuff. Since I did fairly well at this goal last year, I'm going to push myself by specifying that I want to do more new stuff in different parts of New York. I need to explore.
8. Reread the classics. All the stuff I read when I was too young to appreciate it. Or maybe I didn't get around to reading it in the first place. Adult books, kid books, anything is fair game.
These are my goals! What are yours for 2012?

Mine are play more music and do more woodworking.
And see my daughters and grand kids!
Great goals. I had no goals when Tori was Poppy's age other than getting through one day at a time. I'm super jealous of all you accomplish every day with TWO little kids AND Megan!
My resolutions are short. Watercolor once a week–even just for an hour. Strip and stain the door to hell. (Both of those resolutions are from last year and were not met).
But I like the door to hell!
I don't like the living room closet door though. Do that one.
Maybe I'll paint the living room door a scarred up black, too. That is funny you notice the door but not the big picture over the fireplace.
Which door is the door to hell? Is this like the dead body room at the aunts house? What's wrong with the closet door? The one in the living room?
Good goals Jane!
The door to hell is the basement door. It's very scary and painted all black.
The one in the living room is painted white, while all the other doors (excluding the door to hell) are wood. It drives me bonkers!
Did you notice the path to the door - it is paved with good intentions.
Clever boy.
I like everybody's resolutions! I hope we all keep them!
You know how you were asking people out workout music? On NPR they are having people call in telling their favorite song to workout to. They will be making a CD of the favorite songs when they are done!
Second thing. I'm reading a book called: The Art of Eating In; "How I Learned to Stop Spending and Love the Stove" by Cathy Erway. She wrote a blog about this I guess, but took notes while she was doing it. The book used the notes. She is NY so it is hard to resist the restaurants and going out with friends. Some of the recipes look good! So keep notes.
Ooh, I'm going to look up that CD! I bet it will have Eye of the Tiger on it.
I think I'll look up that woman's blog too. Since I cook more, I have become hypercritical of restaurant food. If I can make it better (or if I think I can make it better, anyway) I am very unhappy!
That'll be a fun NPR show. I just listened to a similar one, but I think it was Science Friday, talking about how many beats per minute should be in the song, or something along those lines. A few calls in, but this sounds a bit more fun.
I just requested the Art of Eating In. I don't believe it'll lessen my distaste for the kitchen though!
Cooking will never come easy for me and I don't do it with love.
I forgot to comment on your writing. That was exciting. You are so good at it. I thought it would be on cooking, but you have such a good imagination this will be great. Let us read it when you are ready.
