Another 28 minute day. And it wasn't easy to fit in this jog! Usually, I try to go in the morning, right after I drop off Poppy. But this morning it was raining. So I went to work, but skipping my jog put me in a bad mood. Luckily, the rain let up in the afternoon and I was able to make time for a jog.
Today, I jogged inside Riverside Park. The bridge going over 12th avenue is kind of gross (I had to avoid many heaps of dog doo and a used condom), but once I got to Grant's Tomb it was very scenic and nice. I got caught in a a huge mud mess too, and I'm not sure how to clean my shoes without ruining them.
A little while after I finished my jog, there was a crazy rainstorm. So I was lucky to get in and out when I did!

First maybe you could look on-line at the actual shoe brand you bought and see how they suggest cleaning them then I found these comments on-line about washing muddy shoes....
Okay I have learned not to wash my shoes in the washer it breaks them down. Do not use bleach on them it also will break them down and eat thru the leather (if they are leather of course). also eats plastic. this is what I do I let the mud dry then I get off as much of the dried dirtas possible. I take an old tooth brush, tooth paste that has whitening in it and a rag. I wet the rag and the tooth brush put the tooth paste on the brush and scrub the shoe it can be time consuming but it really works and your shoes will look whiter than the day you bought them, also will smell great. LOL .I use the wet rag to wipe off the extra tooth paste. I didn't believe it when I was told. My daughter is in Marching band and they are not aloud to wash there shoes in the washer because of it breaking the shoes down. And this is what they told us parents to do. It really does work try it.

2nd suggestion:
rinse them in the water hose or bath tube really well them put them in the washer,, i always wash my tennis shoes..if i have 4 loads of clothes i wash my shoes 4 times..i know it sounds stupid, but i have tennis shoes that i have had for 4 years and they dont even look that old, i cute grass in them and everything..you wash your clothes every time they get dirty why not wash your shoes once a month or when ever they get so dirty you dont want to wear them...
but never ever put them in the dryer they will shrink, i always put my on top of the dryer to dry or a heater vent,,works great
Thanks Kaye! I was hoping you, in particular, would have a suggestion. That toothbrush way sounds like the way to go.
I agree, the toothbrush way sounds good. I would never put good running shoes in the washer. Kaye comes through again. She is our Queen of Clean.
